Countries
The eight major destination countries in "safari Africa" are Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Additionally, Mozambique and the Seychelles offer some fabulous beach experiences. English is an official language in each of these countries, and they are all democracies with socio-political systems and institutions that are strongly oriented towards Western models of government. With such strong historic, cultural, and economic connections it's no exaggeration to say that "safari Africa" is where Africa meets the English-speaking West. And nowhere in Africa are foreign visitors (and Americans in particular) more warmly welcomed!
