Camel trekking safaris

Camels have been part of the landscape in northern Kenya for centuries - brought in by migrating pastoralists and traders from the Sahara, they are kept by nomadic tribal groups for both transportation and food, and are symbolic of the harsh beauty of this remote corner of safari Africa. In keeping with this spirit of adventure and exploration, several camps in northern Kenya offer guests the option of trekking by camel, led by local Samburu and Pokot tribesmen. From this elevated, comfortable perch, 10 feet off the ground, one enjoys panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and widlife is easily spotted.
