New Restaurants in the Cape

Cape Town is quickly becoming one of the world's culinary capitals, with new restaurants cropping up weekly. We have not had the pleasure of reviewing these exciting venues yet, but thought those of you travelling to Cape Town in the near future should know of the latest gourmet attractions.
- One & Only Cape Town: The culinary experience at One&Only Cape Town is touted to be one of "purity, creativity and joyful discovery." Both restaurants in the hotel, Nobu and Maze have earned Michelin star status and showcase South Africa's seafood, game and organic produce with a dash of indigenous spice.
- Grand Café and Beach: Grand Café and Beach is another brand new release on the Cape Town culinary scene. It is located adjacent to the V&A Waterfront and flows out onto its own private beach where sun-seekers can laze on Indian day beds, ordering from the outside beach bar, or cool off in two round sea water pools. Diners are treated to a chic, bistro-styled menu for both lunch and dinner, serving old and new classics as well as gourmet thin-crust pies from its featured pizza oven.
- Vanilla: Vanilla is said to be Cape Town's own piece of Manhattan. It's "show-business style dining at its finest and most glamorous," with evocative global cuisine to match. It marries fine dining, wines and cocktails with cutting edge décor and soft jazz in the background.
- Headquarters: Headquarters is situated on Heritage Square in Cape Town's city center and is loosely based on the famous Parisian restaurant, Le Relais de L'Entrecote, in its homage to carnivores. Headquarters offers a single, straight forward menu: salad, sirloin and chips.
- Bistro 1682: Bistro 1682 is a brand new eatery located in the wine tasting room at Steenberg Estate in Constantia. Its "raw bar" features delicacies such as sashimi, grave lax, ceviche, Carpaccio, oysters, and tartare dishes, freshly prepared to order and paired with Steenberg's famous wines.
