Some
advice that I learned on my most recent safari from one of the professional
guides who takes lots of pictures (Matt Copham), is this: Don't be afraid to
use Sepia (gives a "classic safari" look) and Black and White (especially for
shots of Zebra, or variations on the "classic safari" look). Also, take a wide
shot taking in everything around the subject, then another of just the subject.
This helps give context and to tell the story of your safari. Plus, it's good
for editing when you get home. Finally, I would add that Zimbabwe provides an
excellent value in terms of safari experience and cost.
