Cycling for Conservation

The inaugural Wagora Bike Ride was a celebration of conservation efforts and the brave anti-poaching scouts who risk their lives to protect Tanzania's wildlife. A collaboration between Singita Private Game Reserves and the Grumeti Fund, the event honors Kitaboka Wagora, a senior scout killed by poachers in 2008, and highlights the dangers scouts face in preserving Africa's wild spaces.

This unique event was designed not as a race, but as a ride for enthusiasts, offering participants the chance to pedal through the Serengeti National Park, immersing themselves in the landscape while supporting conservation efforts. Cyclists stayed at Singita Sabora Tented Camp, a well-earned luxurious luxury after a day of cycling through the wilderness.

The Wagora Bike Ride will become a regular part of Singita's Safaris with Purpose calendar, with future events aiming to raise awareness for anti-poaching efforts and wildlife protection.

The Land of the Giants Cycling Event, taking place this June, also offers an adventurous and immersive safari experience.

Set in Mashatu Game Reserve, Botswana, this multi-day cycling safari spans 75-120 miles over three days, allowing participants to ride through stunning, untouched landscapes while sharing trails with Africa's iconic wildlife, including elephants, lions, and antelope.

Cyclists travel in small teams of up to eight, guided by experienced leaders and supported by game-drive vehicles. This event not only promises adventure but also directly contributes financially to conservation efforts in the region, making it a meaningful experience for participants and benefitting wildlife.
